Hi everyone, I haven't added to the blog for a few days, Im in Ubud  and so busy sightseeing and having a wonderful time.  Before I left for Ubud (see the next blog) I went back to the Denpasar Market, looking for fabrics and beads.  I braved the downstairs section where they sell all the veggies and meats, chicken, eggs and the most astounding array of sweets.  All in little plastic bags of brightly coloured small cakes, tartlets, jellies and coconut covered treats.  Banana leaf wrapped glutinous sweet rice, sponge cake rolls with fruit jams and fluro pink and green muffin like confections.  I couldn't resist buying a few
(it took me ages to decide) and these 6 or so cost under $1.
All the eggs are sorted by colour and the whiter eggs are more expensive??? The meats and chicken are out on display (not under glass) and the cleanliness and NO flies ect. was noted. There is a massive variety of veggies, a lot we have at home, and a lot of the tropical exotic variety that you have to ask what it is.  The last photo is a woman shaving the fresh coconut that is added to a lot of the local Balinese dishes (more on this laters)
